New: Rebuild Weak Bones & Help Prevent Heart Disease with Vit K2 (MK-7 Form) & Vit D  & Help Increase Longevity Support*

Vitamin K: helps promote better overall health, decreases the incidence of osteoporosis and prevents hardening of the arteries and heart disease. Consuming enough Vit K2 also reduces the risk of bone fractures in men and women by up to 30% to 65%.*

The Rotterdam study involved 4,800  people from age 55 and upwards and tracked the affects of  Vit K and Vit K2 on their bodies for over ten years. The study showed that the people in the study consuming the most Vit. K2 rich foods and in the highest one-quartile of Vit. K consumed (at least 45 mcg daily), had a 50% rate of reduction risk of arterial calcification a 50% reduction risk of cardiovascular death and a 25% reduction risk for death from all causes of mortality, compared with those in the lowest one-quartile of Vit. K2 consumed. Note:  (Vit K is found in many green leafy vegetables and Vit K2 is particularly high in fermented soy products like Natto). New research indicates the importance of getting more natural based vitamin K into your body, especially Vit.  K2 in the MK-7 form (Menaquinone-7). Vitamin K2 in the MK-7 form is up to 8 times more bioavailable than other forms of Vit. K and helps more calcium to be retained in the bones rather than circulating in the blood stream. Too much excess calcium circulating in the blood stream can contribute to calcification of the arteries (atherosclerosis or hardening of the arteries) and calcification of the aortic valve and heart valves, increasing the risk for both heart disease and more bone fractures.*

Getting more vitamin K into your system has recently been shown to be one of the most important nutrients required to help your body age optimally and may well allow you to live up to 10 to 20 or more years than without getting enough vitamin K. Vitamin K is not only essential to help your blood clot, but it also helps prevent bone loss (osteoporosis) as this vitamin helps prevent calcium from being leached from your bones. *

The ongoing Framingham Nurse study of over 72,000 women over a ten-year period and a similar Framingham heart study of 888 elderly men over a seven-year period discovered that women in the lowest 1/5th percentile with the lowest amount of vitamin K intake had a 30 percent higher risk for hip fractures than women with higher amounts of daily vitamin K intake. Men in the highest one-quarter percentile with the highest amount of vitamin K intake had a 65 percent lower risk of hip fracture than those in the lowest one-quarter percentile of daily vitamin K intake. Vit K especially in the Vit. K2 (MK-7 form) by keeping more calcium within the bones, may help prevent calcium deposits and plaque from needlessly forming within blood vessels. This helps support better elasticity and dilation of blood vessels and helps encourage better blood circulation to all parts of the body.*

There are several types of vitamin K. Vitamin K1 is found in many green leafy vegetables. Vitamin K2 is also found in egg yolks, cheese, and fermented soybeans, which the Japanese call, natto. A type of newly discovered vitamin K2 is called the MK-7 (Menaquinone-7) form of vitamin K2.  MK-7 can stay in the bloodstream up to seven or eight times longer than vitamin K1 and research is indicating MK-7 to be a preferred Vit. K  supplement form.* Taking a mixture of vitamin K1 along with natural vitamin K2 in the form of vitamin MK-7 may provide additional overall benefits from the synergy of two different types of vitamin K.  Most importantly, just taking vitamin MK-7 by itself and or as contained in a high quality Calcium and Magnesium product should also produce excellent calcium retaining results in bone and overall health benefits.* (Also See Nutrients Resource Section in the Back of the forthcoming Book: “Start Feeling Better Now”). Beneficial Vitamin MK-7 results are usually seen anywhere from 45 mcg. micrograms) to 200 mcg. daily.*

However, a cautionary note regarding taking Vit. K1 and K2 if taking blood thinners or anti-coagulants like Warfarin (Coumadin). Since Vit. K may interfere with the intended effects of blood thinners, be sure to first consult with a doctor before taking Vit K if on anti-coagulants. Normally, with proper dosage and moderate amounts of Vit. K there may not be a concern but a doctor should always first be consulted.*

More exciting news about the benefits of vitamin K. Vit. K is also showing anticancer prevention benefits by discouraging inflammation and encouraging apoptosis of cancer cells, (the ability of deadly cancer cells to die a normal death and be replaced by healthy cells).*

In addition, vitamin K supplementation helps to improve better insulin usage by reducing insulin resistance in men with type II diabetes. (but longer-term studies need to be done to see if this same improved insulin benefit also applies to women) Source: Diabetes Care, November 2008.*

From the new research and many health benefits being discovered regarding Vit, K;  both as Vit. K1 and Vit. K2 especially in the Vit.K2 (MK-7 form) it would seem vital for those seeking a longer & healthier life to add Vit K to their daily regimen. Now you have even more reasons for eating those leafy green vegetables as a good source of Vit. K1 and for additionally to consider taking Vitamin K2 in the MK-7 form. Healthy suggested daily dosages for most people appear to be from 45 mcg to 200 mcg daily of Vitamin K2 in the MK-7 form.*

I have discovered that an excellent Bone support formula with Vit. K2 as Vit. K2 (Mk-7) is Doctor Greens:  CalMag Supreme which importantly also contains the organic mineral forms of calcium and magnesium along with extra natural Vit. D3 and desirable additional nutrients for healthy bone support and maintenance,* (Note: many less complete bone formulas contain the less expensive inorganic calcium carbonate and magnesium oxide forms which may not always help ensure maximum bone bioavailability.* CalMag Supreme also contains 150 mcg of Vit.K2 (as MK-7) per serving.* Here’s to your Best of Health and “Start Feeling Better Now”. Sincerely, Hal Decker
